Parents Invited to Participate in State Assessments Discussion
Parents and professionals in Colorado Springs will meet to discuss State Assessments for students in grades 3 to 8.
Colorado Springs – Parents of military-connected children in the Colorado Springs area will join other concerned parents to learn more about whether their students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. The conversation will also focus on issues facing military-connected and highly mobile students.
Supporters are invited to participate in the discussion on either April 27 from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Fountain Fort Carson High School with keynote speaker, District 8 Superintendent Cheryl Serrano, or April 28 from 5:30 – 7:00pm at the U.S. Air Force Academy with keynote speaker, Dr. Mark Hatchell. Reservations for the events can be made by contacting Dee.Steel@MilitaryChild.org or by calling (571) 235-6667. On-site child care for ages 6-10 will be provided on a limited, reserved basis.
The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), in coordination with the Partnership of Assessment Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), will facilitate a discussion identifying areas of strength and needs for students related to standards.
MCEC has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. MCEC is also approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education (ACEP™) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.
